Kinesiology

Kinesiology is a holistic natural health care system that uses gentle, non invasive muscle testing and a range of natural and holistic techniques to identify and address the underlying causes of ill health.

Balanced health is the foundation of wellbeing. Our wellbeing resides upon the triad of health; the balanced harmony of our body’s biochemistry, structure, emotional and subtle energy systems. When one of these factors becomes out of balance we can experience pain and ill health.

Our Kinesiologist uses muscle testing to identify imbalances along with the most appropriate remedy or treatment. Treatments are designed to return the body to its optimum state for healing to occur.

How does kinesiology work?

Muscle testing is a tool used to evaluate the motor response of the central nervous system to a sensory challenge. Muscle testing is based upon the understanding the there is a consistency of muscle dysfunction with specific organ or gland and meridian dysfunction.

Muscle testing involves applying light pressure to a muscle and monitoring its response in the presence of a stimuli or stress.

A stimuli or stress could be many things, for example, a food, chemical or vaccine, a thought or memory, or stimulation of part of the body that is structurally or functionally imbalanced. Skilled muscle testing is able to identify whether the root cause is biochemical, structural or emotional/energetic in origin and identify the appropriate course of treatment to be undertaken.

Imbalances within the body are treated using a range of therapies that address the specific nature of your imbalance.

Our Kinesiologist addresses a wide range of health issues at many levels; physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Often these issues are interlinked. For example, a biochemical imbalance may require vitamin, mineral, herbal or nutritional supplementation and possibly some dietary changes.

If the underlying cause of a health issue is emotional the treatment may involve a range of subtle energy techniques such as Emotional freedom Technique, Matrix re-imprinting along with Neuro Linguistic Programming or Bach flower remedies.

Structural problems may require energetic techniques such as acupressure and craniosacral techniques or purely structural procedures such as massage and gentle manipulation.

How can Kinesiology help you?

Imbalances within the body create the underlying causes of ill health. Restoring balance places the body back to the optimum condition to heal and recover.

Kinesiology dose not claim to diagnose or cure. As of yet it is not scientifically proven to be evidence based and as a result current legislation prohibits us from listing symptoms and conditions that are known to respond well when we follow the well-established principle of naturopathic medicine: 'That the body be treated as a whole, without referral to named disease'.

Treatments have profound and long lasting benefits and are often experienced as deeply calming and relaxing.

Clients often report that they experience an overall improvement in their health, mood, and the quality of their relationships as well as resolving or reducing their primary health problem or symptoms.

A Typical Health Kinesiology Session

A typical Health Kinesiology treatment will take approximately 90 minutes and is performed whilst remaining fully clothed. Clients are advised to wear loose fitting clothing.

Two or three treatments are often sufficient to achieve lasting relief from many conditions, although further treatments may sometimes be required.

Kinesiology is suitable for all ages and can be used for a wide range of symptoms.

Clients are encouraged to return occasionally for maintenance treatments.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Kinesiology uses muscle-testing techniques to determine where blockages lie along the body's 14 energy meridians. Each meridian has a functional relationship with an organ and or gland along with one of a number of muscles within the body. Using this information, the kinesiology practitioner at the Westoe Practice, South Shields will identify imbalances and perform a range of correcting techniques specifically tailored for your concerns and for your overall health and wellbeing.
The client lies down fully clothed on a couch, the torso or a limb will be placed in a specific position and the client will be asked to hold that position as gentle pressure is applied against the limb or torso in order to test the muscle function. Inability to maintain the posture offers an indication that there is some form of imbalance within the muscle, meridian, organ relationship, and the practitioner will therefore identify what is required to return the muscle to strength. Once the correct treatment or remedy has been identified, a treatment will be carried out that will return the muscle to strength.
The number of sessions needed varies from individual to individual and depending on the reasons for you wanting to come to see us. The average is 3 or 5 sessions but it may be less & it may be more.
